After sightseeing, stocking up on trekking supplies in Thamel is a good idea! Day 5: Trek to Pisang (3300m/10826 ft) - 4 hours

The trek from Chame to Pisang is a beautiful one, gradually gaining altitude and offering increasing views of the surrounding mountains. As you ascend to Telekhu at 2840 meters, the trail will remain relatively gentle and pleasant, winding through lush forests. The peaceful environment and fresh mountain air make this part of the journey especially enjoyable.

As you continue to Brathang at 2950 meters, you'll get your first glimpse of Paungda Danda, the massive granite rock face that towers more than 1500 meters above the river.

This awe-inspiring feature marks a turning point in the trek, offering dramatic views that will stay with you throughout the journey. The landscape shifts as you begin a steady ascent through blue pine forests, crossing a suspension bridge and reaching the south bank of the Marsyangdi River at 3080 meters.

The final stretch takes you on a relatively level path toward Pisang, located in the upper Manang Valley. This town, with its traditional architecture and breathtaking surroundings, marks a significant milestone in the Annapurna Circuit trek, and it’s the gateway to even higher altitudes and stunning vistas.

Day 6: Trek to Ngawal (3660m/12007 ft) – 4 to 5 hours

Today's trek to Ngawal promises to be both scenic and enriching. Starting early gives you the chance to take in the peaceful morning atmosphere as you make your way through the Manang district. Ngawal is one of the largest and oldest villages in the Nyeshyang region, and it has maintained its traditional charm over the years.

As you approach Ngawal, you’ll be treated to spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes, with the majestic Himalayas standing tall in the background.

The trek is not only a visual delight but also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. A visit to the Buddhist temple in the village adds a spiritual touch to the journey, offering a glimpse into the community's religious practices and history.

Upon arrival in Ngawal, you’ll stay in a cozy guest house, where you can unwind and reflect on the day's journey. The serenity of the village and the panoramic mountain views will make it a memorable stop on your trek.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Included

Day 7: Trek to Manang (3540m/11614 ft) – 4 to 5 hours

Today’s journey will take you through a gradually ascending path toward the Tibetan-style settlement of Bryaga, located at 3500 meters. The landscape will shift as you approach this unique village, where the homes are built one on top of the other.

The architecture is distinct, with each house having an open veranda that extends onto the rooftop of its neighboring house. This design is not only practical but also creates a close-knit, communal atmosphere.

Bryaga is known for its Gompa, which is the largest in the district. Perched on a steep crag, it offers a commanding view of the village below. The Gompa houses an impressive collection of Buddhist statues and artifacts, making it a significant cultural and spiritual landmark.

As you continue your trek, you’ll pass through an arid landscape dominated by yellow sandstone cliffs that have been weathered into striking weirs, or natural pillars, along the trail. The scenery is stark but beautiful, and the dry, rugged terrain contrasts sharply with the previous lush areas.

Once you reach the village of Manang, you'll be surprised by how well-stocked the local stores are. They provide everything you need to replenish your supplies, from snacks to trekking gear. This makes it an ideal place to take a break and prepare for the next leg of your journey.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Included

Day 8: Trek to Yak Kharka (4050m/13287 ft) – 4 to 5 hours

From Manang, today’s trek takes you on a steady ascent as you make your way to Yak Kharka, which sits at an altitude of 4,000 meters. The trail begins by climbing uphill for over 500 meters, gradually leaving the Marshyangdi Valley behind as you move toward the higher, more remote landscapes.

The path first passes through Tenki Manang, a small settlement, before you continue along the Jarsang Khola Valley. As you ascend, the environment becomes more alpine, with fewer villages and the landscape becoming more rugged and barren. The air will feel thinner as you approach Yak Kharka, but the views will be increasingly stunning, with towering peaks and deep valleys surrounding you.

Arriving in Yak Kharka, you'll experience the quiet isolation that comes with being at higher altitudes. This village offers a peaceful atmosphere where you can rest and acclimatize, preparing yourself for the higher elevations yet to come.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Included

Day 9: Trek to Thorong Phedi or High Camp (4525m/14845 ft) – 3 to 4 hours

Today’s trek from Letdar to Thorong Phedi is designed for gradual acclimatization as you prepare for the highest point of the Annapurna Circuit trek. The ascent will be manageable, allowing your body to adjust to the increasing altitude in a controlled manner before the challenge of crossing Thorong La Pass.

As you leave Letdar, the trail will follow the east bank of the Jarang Khola River, leading you steadily upward to Thorong Phedi. This rock-strewn meadow sits at 4420 meters, surrounded by towering cliffs. The valley is a serene and dramatic place, with a sense of quiet isolation.

Thorong Phedi, located at the base of the pass, is a crucial resting point, providing trekkers with the opportunity to prepare mentally and physically for the high-altitude crossing ahead. The area is known for its wildlife as well, with snow leopards and blue sheep occasionally roaming the rugged terrain.

As you trek, keep an eye on the skies—Himalayan griffons and lammergeyers, large birds of prey, can often be seen soaring high above in search of prey. The landscape, wildlife, and air at this altitude will make for an unforgettable experience as you get closer to the high passes of the Annapurna Circuit.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Included

Day 10: Trek to Muktinath (3760m/12335 ft) via Thorong La Pass (5416m/17769 ft) – 6 to 7 hours

Today’s trek is one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of the Annapurna Circuit. The long walk starts early at around 4 am to ensure you reach Thorong La Pass by 10 am, as the weather conditions can change quickly and severely. The pass, standing at 5416 meters, is one of the highest in the world, and it’s essential to cross it early to avoid the risk of strong winds and storms that can make the pass dangerous.

The trail leading to the pass has been used for centuries by locals moving herds of sheep and yaks, and it’s well-marked and relatively straightforward, though often steep. Due to the high altitude, snow can sometimes block the pass, even during seasons when snow is not expected. The journey from Thorong Phedi to the pass usually takes four to six hours, with a steady climb as you ascend toward the sky.

Upon reaching Thorong La Pass, you will be treated to magnificent views. The pass is marked by a stone cairn and traditional prayer flags fluttering in the wind. From here, you can see the Annapurna, Gangapurna, and Khatung Kang peaks, each offering their own breathtaking beauty. Remarkably, there’s a tea shop at the top of the pass, where trekkers can rest and take in the awe-inspiring surroundings.

After the pass, the descent begins, and you’ll make your way down almost 1600 meters. Along the way, you’ll have stunning views of Dhaulagiri, standing majestically in the distance. The trail gradually becomes less steep as you approach your final destination, Muktinath.

Muktinath, known as the "place of Nirvana," is an important pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The Muktinath Temple is believed to bring relief from suffering, and it attracts pilgrims from all over the world. The temple is surrounded by 108 water spouts, believed to purify those who bathe under them. Close by is the Jwala Mai Temple, where an eternal flame burns from natural subterranean gas, adding to the sacred atmosphere of the area.

Reaching Muktinath marks a significant achievement on the Annapurna Circuit, and the peaceful surroundings offer a perfect opportunity to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve completed.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Included

The unique architecture and the presence of ancient monasteries make it a truly captivating stop.
