Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
As you arrive at the medieval city of Kathmandu at the Tribhuvan International Airport and complete the formalities in the customs, you will be greeted by our representative with the proper identification. You shall then be transferred to the respective hotel of your stay. The rest of the day is up to you wherein you may rest in the hotel or explore the surrounding areas. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m/2,690ft)
This day you will be heading towards Pokhara from Kathmandu via drive. It is about 200 km from Kathmandu which will take you approximately 5-6 hours in the drive. You will enjoy the fascinating scenery and a lot more during this drive. You’ll stay overnight at Pokhara this day.
Drive from Pokhara to Jomsom (2,720m/8,923ft) and Kagbeni (2,810m/9,219ft)
Your journey begins with an early morning drive through stunning mountain terrain, offering ever-changing Himalayan scenery along the way. The route takes you across the Kaligandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, where dramatic landscapes set the tone for adventure. As you continue, enjoy breathtaking views of the Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri ranges, standing tall against the horizon. The drive leads to Jomsom and then after Kagbeni, a picturesque village known for its ancient Tibetan-style houses and traditional charm. Serving as the iconic gateway to Upper Mustang, Kagbeni welcomes travelers with its spiritual ambiance, unique desert-like landscapes, and cultural richness, making it a memorable highlight of the journey.
Kagbeni to Lo Manthang (3,840m/12,598ft)
From Kagbeni, the journey continues through dramatic desert-like landscapes adorned with colorful cliffs and unique rock formations. Along the way, you’ll pass ancient monasteries and sacred chortens that reflect the region’s deep spiritual heritage. Reaching the walled city of Lo Manthang, immerse yourself in its cultural richness as you explore historic sites including the royal palace and centuries-old gompas. End the day with a breathtaking sunset over the vast Upper Mustang valley, a truly unforgettable Himalayan experience.
Drive Back to Pokhara
The journey back from Lo Manthang to Pokhara is just as stunning, with desert cliffs, ancient villages, and monasteries along the way. Passing through the Kaligandaki Gorge and catching final glimpses of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, you return to the calm lakeside city of Pokhara—perfect for relaxing after your Upper Mustang adventure.
Drive Back to Kathmandu
Today we drive back to the Kathmandu Valley after completing our wonderful trek. Following the same route to the Pokhara Valley, we trace our journey back to the medieval city of Kathmandu. The trail is as beautiful and attractive as it was in the first encounter. The hills and streams, rivers and rivulets, the landscape, and the hospitable locals make our return journey more beautiful.
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
