Khaptad National Park

About
Khaptad National Park is a protected area located in Nepal's far western region. It covers four districts in the region: Bajhang, Bajura, Achham, and Doti. It covers an area of 225 square kilometres and has elevations ranging from 1400 to 3300 meters. The park was founded in 1984 on the guidance of Khaptad Baba, the region's holy priest. A 216-square-kilometer buffer zone was declared in 2006. It is reported that Khaptad Baba relocated to the area in the 1940s to meditate. He spent almost 50 years in isolation before becoming a well-known saint. The Khaptad Baba Ashram, located near the park headquarters, is a well-known Hindu sacred place.
